I did something today that was so beyond my comfort zone. It wasn’t sky diving or rock climbing or cliff jumping kind of stuff… it was a simple Reel on Instagram. But for me that goes so outside my comfort zone.
And I got real!

We’re talking messy hair, no make-up, no filters and really close up, kind of real.
What motivated me to take this step? I recently attended an intensive training for doula agency owners, like me, facilitated by Randy Patterson and ProDoula. A segment was done on social media marketing by the amazing Erica Patterson of Yellow Jacket Social. I will spare you the details, but the jist of it was that IG Reels are a big boost and that if we aren’t doing them, we are short changing our business. The ever over achiever, I was pushed to take that leap…
…BEYOND MY COMFORT ZONE!
This got me thinking, to be the best doula possible, and to run the best doula agency possible, my team and I must be experts in encouraging and supporting people to go beyond their comfort zone.
And if you are going to talk the talk you need to walk the walk.
Where The Magic Happens
The cliché is “Beyond your comfort zone is where the magic happens.” And this is never more apparent than watching (and supporting and encouraging) a new parent birth their new baby into the world.
Talk about MAGIC!
Each contraction a labor of love (again pun intended). Each contraction wondering if you can do another, and somehow you do. Pushing further and further beyond what you thought you could. SO far beyond your comfort zone, figuratively and LITERALLY.
And there we are, Orlando Doulas, right beside you. Encouraging you, affirming you, assisting you, commending you for the BADASS you are, as you work harder than you ever thought you could to bring your baby into this world… into your arms.
Talk about MAGIC!
Imagine, your labor doula right there with you; patting your head with a cool cloth, offering a gentle massage, or what about those hip squeezes everyone talks about. Reminding you that you are so capable of going beyond your comfort zone to birth your baby the way you want.
Where Life Begins
It is said “Life begins outside of your comfort zone.” And never is this more true than bringing home your new baby. Everything you thought you knew about the world and everything that you thought was important in your life changes. This sweet smelling, under 10lb (at least most of the time) tiny human CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Between feedings every couple hours, dozens of diaper changes, and more crying than you expected, you are pushed to limits outside your comfort zone you didn’t think were humanly possible. And yet, there you are making sure your little one has everything they need and then some, with a heart filled with more love than you ever dreamed.
Often (almost always) ignoring your own needs.
And there we are, Orlando Doulas, right beside you. Encouraging you, affirming you, assisting you, commending you for the BADASS you are, as you work harder than you ever imagined to love and care for your precious new baby.
Talk about where life begins!
